With the League Two season over and all local sport in lockdown, we’re continuing our trip back into the archives to look at some past Morecambe matches.

This week, we’re heading back to November 2010 when the Shrimps ran out 5-0 winners as they came up against Stockport County.

This was how we described the action that night...

Morecambe secured their second home win of the season with a comprehensive victory over struggling Stockport.

Phil Jevons was the star of the show with a superb hat-trick in his first start since September.

Jevons was on the scoresheet after just eight minutes from the penalty spot following a handball on the line from Jake Simpson which saw the midfielder shown a red card.

Stockport hit back bravely and had a brief period on top, with top scorer George Donnelly firing wide on two occasions and Jordan Rose seeing a header cleared off the line.

That proved to be a small show of defiance as Morecambe scored twice in quick succession to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

Jim Bentley, in the side for the suspended Andy Parrish, made it 2-0 when he headed home a Craig Stanley corner on 33 minutes from six yards.
